Green Christmas Tree?

I don’t know if any of you have been pondering whether to get a real tree or a fake tree this year, but finally I found an article posted in the SF Chronicle yesterday that is helping me make my decision.
The suburban limbo talks about his parents fake tree and how he now is on the real tree team…

Fake vs. Real: actually polled readers…

The demise of the real christmas tree

Three times a mom loves her fake tree…

And finally, from 100percentcottam-austin’s blog, the ultimate Christmas quiz. Here are my answers~!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper

2. Real tree or artificial? I love a real one, what can I say. I think this year we will get a potted rosemary bush, cut like a tree.
3. When do you put up the tree? 1st week in December, or if my husband let’s me- the day after thanksgiving!

4. When do you take the tree down? Before New Year’s Eve usually (especially if we’re having a party)

5. Do you like eggnog? Nope.

9. Easiest person to buy for? My husband 🙂

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Oh god, where to start! I consistently get bad gifts from this one relative who has no taste. I swear, they go shopping for me at garage sales. But, wait, its supposed to be the thought that counts, right?

16 Clear lights or colored on the tree? clear clear clear! colored are so tacky. think simple people.

17. Favorite Christmas song? After caroling for pay 5+ years I know every frickin’ christmas (and hanukah song). I’d have to say my favs are Carol of the Drum (Little Drummer Boy) , Winter Wonderland, and Silver Bells.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Travel.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, Rudolph!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? One present Christmas Eve, the rest in the a.m.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? fighting for a parking space at the mall. when will I buy everything online???!!

23. Favorite Christmas tradition? Preparing Christmas Eve dinner together, and listening to Manheim Steamroller.

For my family, getting the tree is still the most important part of the tradition.

My kids still whinge about the fake one – and as we’re going away for Christmas we’re not putting it up this year – oh the complaints!

I bought my real tree on line this year – it was great!

Real tree too messy even though, getting the real one it’s an important part of Christmast tradition.
I opted for the fake one, they last longer and of course 🙂 I don’t need to buy a new one each Christmast.
Adorn the tree by adding ornaments and sparkling lights, and voila’ kids woun’t even notice it’s a fake one.

Merry Christmast.

I have to agree with most of you- the christmas tree tradition really about picking it out as a family. The decorating is too, for me at least, but that doesn’t matter if the tree is real or fake.

Loved your feedback and your blogs too- thanks for stopping by.

I really like this list – I brings up so many Christmas memories! We’ve only had a tree one or two years – we’re always traveling during the holiday – but we always go with real. This year is our son’s first Christmas and I’m looking forward to seeing what he thinks of all the decorations!
