must see tv part 1

Ok, Thursday TV is back!!! I’m so excited about all my favorite shows:

The Office, ER, My Name Is Earl, 30 Rock and Scrubs.

Luckily, I have a dvr to enjoy them over and over again. Last night with the premiere’s of The Office and ER. I unfortunately had to work (the fun job though) and so I missed watching them all on Thurs. After getting home after midnight I decided I had to at least watch one and of course it was The Office. I’ll post later on the others, you can be sure :)

Talk about great. I was on the floor. Here are some of my favorite scenes:

Pam & Jim are an item! (They’re PB & J, heehee)

Michael plans a fun run for rabies, because he hit an Meredith in the parking lot with his car. No, I’m sorry his car hit her. ;)

Your favorites? Anyone see clips posted on youtube yet??

to relieve stress, get a dog

I took this test yesterday called the RealAge. Apparently I’m 3.8 years older in my RealAge than my actual age. It makes sense- there have been several stressful things that have happened in the last 12 months, out of my control mostly… and you know what their recommendations were? To get a dog. Here’s the text:

OWN A DOG IF POSSIBLE.
For many people, dogs help reduce stress. Dogs also help increase your daily level of
physical activity because of their need for walking and playing. If possible, own and care
for a dog for optimal Age Reduction.

Who would have thunk it? We’ve been wanting a dog for sometime now, but hubby doesn’t feel that its appropriate with where we live. I know he’s right.

cool geneology software

So, in my current work I’m busy literally surfing the internet all day. I come across some of the best blogs, new ideas, and neat new websites. Yes, I said “neat”!!! But, this is super cool I’ve always been interested in my family tree, and how the dozens of family members all are connected. I grew up with lots of family gatherings, and knowing that I was related to these people, but not having a clue how. As I got older, the pieces started fitting together, but its impossible to retain all that info. So, today I came across this site and was immediately hooked!

trossingen, part 2?

yea, so i spent more time on youtube after my last post and found this video. if you know me, you know i was in a vocal jazz group and we did vocal percussion- well, our awesome tenor did. i think you can all appreciate this. especially if you like the white stripes.

trossingen, germany

My dear friend married a lovely german/greek who was heavily involved with a great musical theater group. She sent me this video that their friend made- a compilation from the original musical they did together this past summer and he made it into a sort of Trossingen tourism video. Its great! Here’s what she said about the video:

“The guy that filmed it took the liberty of making a hysterical advertisement out of it about Trossingen, the town where the musical took place. Almost none of the pictures from the town are accurate. And watch for my favorite part including the horses running through snow. That’s TOTALLY what we did there every single day!”

2 let downs

What am I referring to? The season premiere and the 2nd episode this season of Prison Break. It was my favorite show for the first 2 seasons. Now, all the peeps are in this crazy Panama prison called Sona, that has no guards. Michael is supposed to break out of Sona- what the hell? At the end of last season I was excited to see how they would move the story. But, the premiere was lackluster at best- who cares about all of these new characters! The audience has no relationship with them, and frankly I’m tired of T-bag and that lame-o wanna be cop who is now at the bottom of the totem pole. Ugh. If next week doesn’t get any better, I’m done with this show! Such a shame. It was so good the first season- edge of the seat suspense!

Have you seen the show? What do you think??

In other TV news, I cannot wait for LOST. Hubby and I re-watched all the episodes from season 1 and 2. We’re going to get our hands on season 3 to review again and remember everything. :)

green music center

green music center construction

Sonoma state is still building the green music center, which hopefully, will be completed by the fall of 2009.

A bit of history: this project was initially conceived by Don and Maureen Green who seeded the project with a mere $10 million nearly 10 years ago. The figure of completing the hall, copied after the Boston Symphony’s summer home called Tanglewood, has grown exponentially year after year. Needless to say, its my humble opinion that the Green’s need to cough up a few more mill. Actually, 20 mil more would be good, considering the university is having to take out bonds just to cover construction expenses which will cost the school too much money in the long run. If these people really want their name on the building, its time they pony up the real dough. In LA, Lillian Disney and her clan donated over 50% of the Walt Disney Concert Hall’s construction bill.

So why do I care. The Press Democrat published a story about the lovely Jean Schultz, widow of Charles the Peanuts comic strip writer. Guess how much she gave to the center- $5 mil!!! That’s half of what the Green’s have given but they get naming rights? Hmmm…

And, while I’m on this particular soapbox, why doesn’t the center already have a staff? Deedeedee. They should actually try and take the lead from other organizations who’ve built halls. Although a small-minded town, they sure have a lot of confidence in themselves. Apparently reinventing the wheel is what they prefer to do.

Rainn Wilson and Kanye West

This was hilarious. Props to Kanye for playing along and smiling that beautiful smile, instead of throwing a tantrum (like he did at the VMAs!)

Vegas baby

I met up with my wonderful sister this past weekend in vegas- and we had a blast. Yes, I lost money, but not as much as I thought I would. Hubby made me set a limit or budget, if you will, and I stuck to it! (Well, very close to it, which was at least the point for him). What was great was that by the end of the weekend I was all gambled out. YES! ME! I was. It felt good too. On Saturday night, the sister and I just relaxed in our awesome hotel room, snacked and played cards. We fell asleep watching SNL.

I was up at the butt crack of dawn for the earliest of all flights back to SF. I used my united miles for the roundtrip so I can’t complain too badly. Sunday I was home by 9:30am, in my bed, sleeping. Ah- nothing like getting in your own bed after a flight and a nice shower. Sister, on the other hand, and bless her heart, had a red eye flight Sunday night, AND she gained 3 hours coming from Vegas on pacific time to Florida on east coast time. Hopefully she’ll get her sleep caught up.

It occurred to me that in another 2 weeks I’ll be back in Vegas. No, not because I have a gambling problem- a college friend of my hubby’s is getting married there (during the week). And, we’ll meet up with a cousin I have seen in years. Maybe I’ll play a few rounds of craps and blackjack though. :)
